Now I am looking to help other artists who are trying to learn their way around the internet and sell their artwork as well.What's in it for me? Cross Promotion~!!!
Viewers want a variety of art to look at and will pick out what they want~ So I don't see other artists as competitors, rather as collegues and worthy of respect and promotion to perpective art collectors and buyers. I envision my websit growing into an interactive Art Hub for online art related activities, by showing and selling "G" rated family friendly artworks. Unlike most art networks, I do not allow nudity or porn or violence or demonic arts~! I personally evaluate and approve every work of art displayed on my site, since after all, my good name is on the site endorsing these artists!
You will find some of the most amazing artworks online by artists such as Murphy Art Elliott, Bob Bello, Bill Wright, Kevin Heaney and many more fantastic highly talented artists~! I am an landscape and seascape artists. I do them very well. I do however know my limitations~ I don't do portraits or outer space fantasy paintings BUT I know artists that do~!! That's what its all about on my site~ to bring variety, talent and hope to both artists and consumers~!
I am sharing this resource here making it available to ALL artists who wish to sell and promote their art online without any additional costs. Lets face it, most of us, artists have limited computer skills and less promotional skills~ Most consumers too would rather buy without added fees~
Anyway after compiling my own art research and testing the market with my own art, I have sold over 300 works of art in the last 2 years online in the places I am sharing here.
I did join many of the POD sites [like Fine Art America. ArtWanted, Imagekind,ESBQ and more~} where I had to pay an annual fees & sellers fees and found they didn't really increase my sales enough to cover the costs of their memberships~ I sold more on Ebay and Plunderhere than on the POD Sites~!
So, as mentioned, I also sold alot on Ebay for the last couple of years, but I was not satisfied overall with the results, ~my art often being sold on the minimum bids, as there simply is an over saturation on art on Ebay in that just to get a few views may be all you get and Ebay charges fees whether you sell or not.
I found the other auctions sites listed below that things sold slower but they sold and they didnt charge listing fees which makes it a win win situation in that you only have to pay a small sellers fee if your item is sold and if not, you can automatically relist them til they do sell~ That saves alot of time and effort along the way to simply hit a relist button~!!
Then I found some little shops that sell and are affordable in that you only pay pennies to list an item for up to 3 months at a time like at Etsy! Still without promotion, getting people to your art is alot of work in itself and people will not simply find you if you dont promote!
You could post pics on every social site on the net working 20 hours a day and not get a sale as a result. You need to promote to an audience that is looking to buy art or suggested to see your art and may result in a sale. Here is my list of places to show, promote and sell your art.
Promoters charge alot of money, because there is work involved, but here even the least computer saavy artist can successfully list, promote and sell their art more effectively Best of Luck~ AveHurley
